My package arrived today!
So many lovely odd things, it's a lot to process at one time. Right away my favorites are the fingernail +hair in a bottle and the super-seductive nest piece, but it will take some time to sort it all out.
what a great idea and all of this arrives at a perfect time for me. Thanks Judith!

Re: just got it!
Tue, September 23, 2003 - 7:50 AMI drove up a mountain in terrible fog to find my mailbox door open in the rain. I could tell by the size of the package it was from 20 Things. It lightened up the dreary night. I too will need time to really look at everything but I have enjoyed what I have had time to touch, look at and think about. Thanks. -

Tue, September 23, 2003 - 8:24 AMGlad you're enjoying the work. Photos should be online soon - there seems to be a glitch in database permissions since we moved servers... -

Re: just got it!
Tue, September 23, 2003 - 12:35 PMWell after I sent them out I got the feeling I should have packaged them individually. Mine came back to me broken (which doesn't matter than much 'cause I have a ton of them), but I feel bad for the others. -

Re: just got it!
Tue, September 23, 2003 - 2:51 PMMy "grass is greener" was not broken. It is perfect and seductive in its bubble sphere. I thought when opening my own piece (I did "tabletop memorials") I should have included a note with each block stating Tabletop Memorials, tributes to those things I have lost" but hindsight is . . . Your site looks great and good luck on getting a job. -

Re: just got it!
Tue, September 23, 2003 - 4:17 PMMy bubble was intact as well... in fact, nothing at all was broken (impressive, especially in the case of the framed puzzle)
I thought the tabletop memorials were fine without the note... It was totally clear to me. I got the marriage and I love your (well, mine now) bright yellow tombstone! -

Re: just got it!
Thu, September 25, 2003 - 12:30 PMIt's interesting to be participating in this vicariously through all of your descriptions. I have never participated in a swap before, but reading everyone's descriptions fills me with anticipation! It will be cool to see the pix on the 20 Things site, when they are up.

Re: just got it!
Thu, September 25, 2003 - 6:09 PMAh yes, the marriage. It is good to know its final resting place. Some of my pieces are unsigned or signed with something other than a name. I have tried to guess but may I ask which piece is yours? -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: just got it!
Fri, September 26, 2003 - 10:56 AMAbsolutely! Mine are the shrinky dink houses.
Mostly cube-shaped, low rent tenanments which the residents have painted in strange ways while also putting a large number on top.
I had the idea when I first heard about the swap while I was living in Berlin and thought, 'what would I do?' But I let a few swaps go by as I didn't fully understand the method by which people were chosen to swap. When Judith sent out her mail asking for descriptions, I was back here in Seattle (better access to materials) and I decided to go for it.
I got the meat house (16) back.
I have to admit that I'm a bit obsessive about documentation, and that I have every house photographed from 4 angles up on my site:
www.rickmu.com/projects.html
(the houses are the third project down - once it's open, click anywhere on the title page to enter, and then on each house to see it) -

Fri, September 26, 2003 - 8:27 PMOoooh! Now I wish I'd gotten house #1. In fact, I wish I had all 20!
I just discovered that the nest thing opens. How cool!
