I made these 35 books, blank on the inside, I screen printed a rough fleshy colored rectangle on the cover. The theme is s k i n. I have been doing mail art for some time now. I am mailing these books to artist around the world, they elaborate on them and send them back to me, I am working on finding a gallery to show the completed works, but combinding them all into one reproducable book would be ideal. This is the first time I have mailed out books, I have done postcards before and I have made several artist books, so I decided to combind my two endeavors. I love book art/paper art/mail art etc. and last year was in a show related to such. It was called "Mybrary" and it was all about books and reading etc. It was a group show and each artist had thier own shelf of their own design with books they submitted to it. It was a beautiful show, people loved it. For the time of the show, the gallery was a working library. Patrons could actually get a mybrary card and check out books and then return them...I've never done much mail art but think its a great concept and I love using the us postal system for art! Anyway, I am interested but can you tell me more about this theme:

Sounds like a great idea. But would also like to know something about the theme "skin."

I think that I have accedently copyed this idea of sending homemade book's around to diffrent artist's ..Any way I really wanted to trade book's with this person ( Mabey she is still out there) but could not find out if it was still going on ..It is such a good idea..I made 33 book's in her honor to pass around .So if you want one sent, e-mail me with your adress. mine don't really have a theme except of makeing something in it then passing it on ..Then the last person send's it back to me when it's filled ..very simple and easy ..I will try to post pictures of the compleated book's ..Let me know if you kid's would like to do
